Coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Darboh (hip) has resumed practicing and has looked good in those sessions, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. The 2017 third-round pick caught just eight passes in 16 games his rookie season, then spent his entire sophomore campaign on injured reserve with a hip injury. The Seahawks actually waived him at the end of the preseason, but he reverted back to their roster after the Patriots claimed him and he failed a physical examination. Darboh needs to establish special-teams value to secure a roster spot, after the Seahawks selected D.K. Metcalf (second round), Gary Jennings (fourth) and John Ursua (seventh) in the 2019 draft.
The Seahawks placed Darboh (hip) on injured reserve Friday, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. Darboh underwent an odd chain of events after he was waived by the Seahawks, as he was claimed by the Patriots but failed a physical, sending him back to Seattle's roster. He then had hip surgery. His injured reserve designation is retroactive to Sept. 5, making him ineligible to return to the Seahawks this season.
Darboh (hip) was waived by the Patriots on Tuesday after failing a physical, Doug Kyed of NESN.com reports. After going thin at wide receiver in their initial 53-man roster, the Patriots made a move to claim Darboh off waivers Sunday. However, he was subsequently unable to pass a physical and will now be left to look for a new opportunity.
The Patriots claimed Darboh (hip) off waivers Sunday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports. New England went thin at wide receiver on the initial 53-man roster, planning to scoop up a couple players after other teams made cuts. The Seahawks selected Darboh with a supplemental third-round pick in last year's draft, but he only caught eight passes as a rookie and has struggled to stay healthy this summer. The Patriots will see how Darboh and Chad Hansen fit in behind Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson while Julian Edelman serves a four-game suspension. Darboh's hip injury wasn't believed to be serious and may not even be a factor at this point.
Darboh (hip) was waived by Seattle on Saturday, the team's official website reports. A third-round pick last year, Darboh caught just eight passes as a rookie and never seemed to generate much momentum as a potential contributor in the offense. The Seahawks likely drafted him with the belief he'd be a key special teamer at the very least, but even that never came to fruition. The team may still keep Darboh on the practice squad if he passes through waivers unclaimed. There hasn't been any suggestion that his recent hip injury is serious.
