Barrett signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers on Monday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. Barrett joined Pittsburgh's practice squad Christmas Eve and is now set to spend the offseason with the team. The 24-year-old spent much of the last two seasons moving on and off the Saints' practice squad, and he has yet to make his NFL debut.

Barrett spent time on New Orleans' practice squad earlier in the season, but he's still yet to make his NFL debut since going undrafted out of Ohio State in 2018. He'll now serve as an emergency option in Pittsburgh in the wake of Mason Rudolph (shoulder) being placed on injured reserve.

Barrett joined the Saints' practice squad in September with Drew Brees (thumb) heading for surgery, but he was let go Tuesday with the veteran QB closing in on his return. Barrett has yet to see game action since going undrafted out of Ohio State in 2018 and spent most of last season being move on and off New Orleans' practice squad.
Seattle waived Barrett on Saturday, per the NFL transactions page. Barrett originally signed with the Seahawks shortly after being waived by the Saints at the start of training camp. The 24-year-old has yet to see any regular-season action since going undrafted out of Ohio State in 2018. Barrett will now have to try to find an opportunity elsewhere.

He'll provide depth at quarterback for the Seahawks in the wake of Geno Smith's knee injury. With Smith only slated to be out seven-to-10 days, however, Barrett's time with the team may not last long.
