  • Jahleel Addae: Headed to Houston
    By RotoWire Staff

Addae agreed in principle Wednesday with the Texans on a contract, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Addae hit the free-agent market when the Chargers cut him March 9, likely for the purpose of freeing up cap space. The Texans were able to swoop in and nab the accomplished safety, presumably at a more appealing price. The 29-year-old may not unseat Tashaun Gipson or Justin Reid for a starting role, but Addae should tentatively slot in as the team's third safety and potentially see time at linebacker during obvious passing downs.

  • Chargers' Jahleel Addae: Hitting open market
    By RotoWire Staff

Addae was released by the Chargers on Saturday, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports. It looks like yet another safety is expected to hit the open market, with Addae ranking among the most accomplished when it comes to his tackling acumen. Slated to make just over $12 million over the course of the next two seasons, the emergence of All-Pro safety Derwin James and the continual development of other secondary players such as Adrian Phillips, Jaylen Watkins and Rayshawn Jenkins made Addae expendable. The 29-year-old safety is likely better suited for a pseudo-linebacker role as opposed to a starting safety at this point in his career, but it's hard to suggest the six-year veteran won't find a team by the start of the 2019 preseason given his notable resume that includes 367 career tackles.

  • Chargers' Jahleel Addae: Leads team in tackles
    By RotoWire Staff

Addae tallied eight tackles (six solo) in the 26-21 victory over the Bengals on Sunday. Addae has seen his production slip this season with the emergence of Denzel James and Adrian Phillips, despite the fact the veteran safety has played in 98 percent of the team's defensive snaps. Generally considered one of the hardest hitting safeties in the NFL, Addae's worth might be more important to the Chargers than fantasy owners.

  • Addae secured seven tackles (five solo), a half of a sack and a forced fumble in the 14-7 win over the Jets on Sunday. Addae has been a revelation for the Chargers in his fifth season, as the box safety is set to play in all 16 games for only the second time in his career. Not surprisingly, the 27-year-old is putting up career numbers and is only eight tackles shy of breaking the century mark this season.

  • Addae recorded eight tackles (six solo) -- including two for a loss -- in the 20-17 overtime loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. Addae continues to rack up the tackle numbers. While the fifth-year safety has never produced turnovers at an elite rate, he's now set a career high in tackles with 65 despite playing in just nine games. He should be poised to build upon that impressive number so long as he can stay healthy.
