Player Outlook

Robert Foster should be among the top four receivers for the Bills this season, but it's unknown where he'll be on the depth chart heading into training camp. The additions of John Brown and Cole Beasley could push Foster to No. 4 behind Zay Jones as well, or Foster could emerge as the No. 1 target for Josh Allen. We need to see how Buffalo decides to use all of its receivers and where Foster slots in on the depth chart, but he played well to close last season with at least 12 PPR points in three of his final four games. He's worth a late-round pick in all leagues on Draft Day this year.

Player News
  • Foster has a foot injury and will not practice Tuesday, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports. Coach Sean McDermott doesn't think it's a long-term issue for the second-year wideout, who will be jockeying for a depth position all summer. John Brown, Zay Jones and Cole Beasley all appear to be ahead of him in the early order, while Foster appears to be ahead of a slew of other guys following a surprising rookie season, where he ultimately ended up starting for the injury-depleted Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama.

  • Bills' Robert Foster: Receiving room mostly set
    By RotoWire Staff

The Bills did not add a receiver during this weekend's draft with any of their eight picks, which leaves Foster to compete with Zay Jones and incoming free agents John Brown and Cole Beasley for snaps in 2019, Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reports. The Bills could add someone else to the mix, say a big name gets cut this summer, but for now the team appears fine with using the speedy Foster as the No. 4 man entering the campaign. While Foster's 27-541-3 line in 13 games was big news for a guy that got cut earlier in his 2018 rookie season, the signings of proven receivers like Brown and Beasley do not help his outlook for improving on these figures. While Foster may have the most upside of the four, he still has a lot to prove, and being a possible No. 4 in a run-based scheme makes him mostly a dart or stash unless he can get himself bumped up with a stellar summer.

  • Bills' Robert Foster: Gets competition for snaps
    By RotoWire Staff

Foster may drop back to a part-time role in 2019 after the Bills reached agreements to sign fellow wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports. Foster was one of the league's standout undrafted rookies in 2018, catching 27 of 44 targets for 541 yards and three touchdowns, with nearly all his production occurring in November and December. The Bills' decision to sign another deep threat (Brown) suggests the team isn't entirely sold on their unexpected gem, perhaps viewing Foster as a one-dimensional player. It's also possible the team believes there's a cap on his development, as he'll celebrate his 25th birthday before the start of his second season. Of course, it could also be argued that Beasley and Brown will ultimately threaten Zay Jones more so than Foster, considering Jones was far less efficient with his targets in 2019. The division of playing time will be something to watch during training camp and the preseason.

  • Bills' Robert Foster: Major rookie strides
    By RotoWire Staff

Foster finished his rookie season with 27 catches (44 targets) for 541 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games. That's quite a feat considering Foster was undrafted and even got cut by the team in October, then had to bide his time on the practice squad for three weeks. He returned with something to prove, and quickly became the team's best deep threat and a good match for strong-armed quarterback Josh Allen. Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes were given the heave-ho by the Bills before the season ended, so Foster will have a a fair chance to carry his success into next season. While he's a starter on paper now, the Bills have an insane amount of cap room and the job won't simply be handed to him. That said, he's got the speed to make game-breaking plays and proved it on a few occasions this season, finishing with an eye-popping 20.0 yards per reception.

  • Bills' Robert Foster: Records 52 yards
    By RotoWire Staff

Foster caught four of seven targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 24-12 loss to New England. Foster fell well short of the 94 yards he'd reached in four of the previous five games, but things certainly could have gone worse for owners desperate enough to look his way. The undrafted Alabama product will finish out his rookie campaign against the Dolphins in Week 17.
