Alvin Kamara is a sure-fire first-round pick in any format. In PPR one could justify taking him as early as second overall based on his career efficiency and 2019 workload. Kamara's 16-game pace was for 288 touches, which would project to 1,750 total yards and 14 touchdowns at his career rates. The only problem with that math is that Kamara's yards per touch have gone down every year and his career rate is still impacted by an outlandish 2017. His touchdowns should bounce back in 2020, and if he stays healthy he should be a top-three back in PPR.
Kamara posted Tuesday on his personal Twitter account that he's back at full strength after playing "on one leg... at 75 percent" in 2019. Kamara dealt with ankle and knee injuries in October, missing two games before a conveniently timed Week 9 bye. He then churned out 4.9 yards per carry but just 5.2 per catch over the final seven games of the regular season, scoring four of his six touchdowns in Weeks 16 and 17. The 2017 third-round pick should bounce back from the least impressive season of his pro career, now entering the final year of his rookie contract. Of course, a holdout could be around the corner if the Saints don't sign Kamara to an extension soon.
Kamara carried seven times for 21 yards and a touchdown and brought in eight of nine targets for 34 yards in the Saints' 26-20 overtime wild-card loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Kamara concluded the season with his third straight game with a touchdown, though his season-long numbers were a bit of a letdown. The third-year back managed 1,330 total yards and six total touchdowns -- career lows -- but it's encouraging for fantasy owners that this is his floor. The Tennessee product hauled in 81 receptions for the third straight season and has established himself as a premier dual-threat back. He has one year left on his rookie deal, and with Michael Thomas' massive payday last off-season, Kamara may be eyeing a new contract sooner than later.
Kamara rushed 11 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns, grabbing six of seven targets for an additional 30 yards in the Saints' 38-28 win over the Titans on Sunday. Kamara broke out of his scoring slump in fine fashion Sunday, delivering a pair of touchdown runs while racking up over 100 yards from scrimmage in the process. Watching the Tennessee product explode against the Titans had to be a relief for fantasy owners, as Kamara hadn't scored since Week 3 and broke 100 yards from scrimmage for the first time since Week 12. He'll look to keep the momentum going in Week 17 against a pedestrian Panthers run defense.
Kamara rushed 14 times for 66 yards and caught all five of his targets for 23 yards in the Saints' 34-7 win over the Colts on Monday. It was another disappointing performance for Kamara, as he failed to cross the goal-line for the ninth consecutive game. His 73 receptions have boosted his value in PPR formats, though he still entered Week 15 as the overall RB17 in 2019. The usage has been there, as Kamara has seen nearly 19 total touches per game across his last five contests, but the production has been highly underwhelming for fantasy owners who spent a first-round pick on him. He'll try to rebound in a Week 16 showdown with the Titans.
Kamara rushed 13 times for 25 yards, adding four receptions for 18 yards in the Saints' 48-46 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. Kamara couldn't get much going in Sunday's close loss, accounting for his lowest output from scrimmage all season. The third-year back added to his eight-game streak of scoreless performances dating to Week 3, and his stats during that span have been concerning. Over his last eight contests, Kamara has averaged just 85.5 yards from scrimmage per game, though his 6.4 receptions per contest have buoyed some otherwise lackluster efforts in PPR formats. He can't be benched given his immense upside, though he'll be a volatile fantasy playoff option when New Orleans takes on Indianapolis in Week 15.
