Fields was promoted to the Chargers' active roster Saturday, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Fields joins the 53-man roster in place of cornerback Craig Mager, who was placed on injured reserve Saturday. The young linebacker has not played a down this season, and his lone game experience was a brief stint with the Redskins in 2015. He'll likely only see the field Sunday if the Chargers suffer a number of injuries in the linebacking corps unless he mixes in on special teams.
The Giants signed cornerback Victor Hampton and linebacker Carlos Fields to the practice squad Tuesday, the New York Daily News reports.
The Oakland Raiders made their final cuts before Saturday's deadline. The team parted ways with WR Greg Little, RB George Atkinson, DE Denico Autry, CB Chance Casey, OL Jack Cornell, DE Jack Crawford, LB Carlos Fields, LB Bojay Filimoeatu, LB Spencer Hadley, OL Danny Kistler, OL Erle Ladson, DT Ricky Lumpkin, OL Lamar Mady, TE Jake Murphy, WR Seth Roberts, DE Ryan Robinson, S Brandian Ross, OL Jarrod Shaw, TE Scott Simonson, RB Jeremy Stewart, K Giorgio Tavecchio and FB Karl Williams.
