Cook (personal) won't play Sunday against the Lions, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Pelissero notes that the running back has returned home to Miami to be with his family following the tragic loss of his father, James, who passed away unexpectedly Tuesday at 46 years old. Cook concludes his fourth NFL season with 1,918 yards from scrimmage and 17 touchdowns, both career highs.

Cook won't be available for Sunday's game against the Lions after he returned home to Miami due to a family emergency, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports. The Vikings have yet to officially confirm that Cook will sit out, but at this stage, Alexander Mattison -- if cleared to return from a concussion -- looks set to lead Minnesota's backfield Week 17. If that's the case, Cook will wrap up a spectacular fourth NBA season with 1,557 rushing yards, 361 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns over 14 games.

Cook rushed 15 times for 73 yards and a touchdown and secured both targets for 12 yards in the Vikings' 52-33 loss to the Saints on Friday. He also committed a fumble that was recovered by the offense. The Vikings were constantly in trail mode throughout the afternoon, and while the deficit wasn't always untenable, it was enough to eventually force the Vikings to go more pass heavy than ideal. Cook still churned out an efficient performance against yet another tough run defense after having averaged 5.1 yards per rush against the Buccaneers and Bears the previous two games. The third-year pro was also significantly outshined by Saints counterpart Alvin Kamara, who tied an NFL record with six touchdowns. Cook now boasts a career-high 1,557 rush yards and 16 rushing touchdowns on the season, marks he'll look to build on in Minnesota's regular-season finale against the vulnerable Lions in Week 17.

Cook rushed 24 times for 132 yards and a touchdown and secured all five targets for 27 yards in the Vikings' 33-27 loss to the Bears on Sunday. Facing a defense that had stymied him to the tune of a season-low 3.2 yards per carry the first time he saw them in 2020, Cook frequently ran uninhibited throughout the afternoon despite a game-long run of 20 yards. He had just overcome another difficult matchup Week 14 against the Buccaneers' typically impenetrable run defense, so Sunday was merely another example of his transcendent talent. Cook now has four 100-yard efforts in his last five games alone, particularly timely contributions for fantasy managers at the most critical time of year. The fourth-year pro will look to keep up his hot streak while taking on another challenging task in the form of the Saints on Christmas Day.

Cook rushed 22 times for 102 yards and a touchdown and secured two of four targets for eight yards in the Vikings' 26-14 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. Cook's long run of the day went for a modest 14 yards, but he continued to chip away with multiple productive carries against one of the stingiest run defenses in the league to notch his seventh 100-yard effort of the campaign, including his second straight. The fourth-year pro's workload was modest compared to his season-high 32-carry tally from Week 13 versus the Jaguars, as game script limited his opportunities late. Nevertheless, Cook delivered for managers in the fantasy playoffs, and he'll look to keep it going in a Week 15 battle versus the Bears.
