Vedvik signed a reserve/future contract with the Bills on Tuesday. Vedvik was picked up off waivers to start the season, but his stint with the Jets didn't last long. The 25-year-old kicker missed a field goal and an extra point in Week 1's 17-16 loss to the Bills, so Gang Green quickly replaced him with Sam Ficken. Vedvik may compete with Stephen Hauschka for the Bills' starting job in 2020, but the former has an uphill battle since Hauschka had a strong end to the season and is under contract for two more years. Vedvik also can work as a punter, so he could be assigned to battle Corey Bojorquez for that role.
The Bengals signed Vedvik to their practice squad Monday, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Vedvik had a couple shots to assume a starting kicking role with the Vikings and Jets this year but couldn't stick. The 25-year-old missed both his only career field-goal and extra-point attempts for the Jets in Week 1 this season.
Vedvik declined an invite to work out for the Patriots, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. The Patriots placed Stephen Gostkowski (hip) on injured reserve Wednesday since he'll require season-ending surgery, so they're actively searching for a replacement. Vedvik isn't interested, however, as he's working to improve his punting and kickoffs after getting cut by the Jets on Sept. 10.
The Jets waived Vedvik on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Vedvik received his walking papers just two days after he failed to convert two kicks -- a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point attempt -- in a 17-16 loss to the Bills. The 25-year-old will now exit his third organization in a month after being traded from the Ravens to the Vikings on Aug. 11 before getting waived by Minnesota at the conclusion of the preseason. The Jets signed Sam Ficken on Tuesday to assume the vacant kicking job.
The Jets intend to hold a kicking tryout Tuesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports. Vedvik failed to convert a kick during Sunday's loss to the Bills, missing a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point try. The 25-year-old failed to carve out a role in Minnesota during training camp after the Vikings acquired him from the Ravens, and he now finds himself in danger of parting ways with the Jets.
