Parris Campbell

WR Rank

Player Outlook

Parris Campbell has a chance to emerge as the No. 2 option for Andrew Luck from Day One, making him a worthwhile gamble in the seventh or eighth round. Even in the NFL, you don't often see athletes like Campbell, who ran a 4.31 40-yard dash at the combine while weighing in over 200 pounds - T.Y. Hilton weighed in at 183 when he ran his 4.39 40, for reference. Campbell won't overtake Hilton as the top option, but the potential for a strong rookie season is already here.

  • Colts' Parris Campbell: Getting run with starters
    By RotoWire Staff

Campbell mixed in with the starting offense Wednesday at OTAs, Zak Keefer of The Indianapolis Star reports. The second-round pick caught passes from backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett while Andrew Luck continued to recover from a calf strain. Devin Funchess is expected to secure a starting spot after signing a one-year, $10 million contract, but Campbell should at least have a chance to compete for the No. 3 job with Chester Rogers, who played 525 of his 679 snaps (77.3 percent) from the slot last season. At 6-foot and 205 pounds with a 4.31-second 40-yard-dash time and 40-inch vertical leap, Campbell may look the part of an outside receiver, but he mostly played slot at Ohio State. In particular, Campbell thrived as a catch-and-run specialist on short passes.

  • Colts' Parris Campbell: Going to Indy
    By RotoWire Staff

The Colts selected Campbell in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 59th overall. This looks like a great pick both in the sense of talent value and fit. Even if Campbell's development stagnated at this point, he'd serve as a menacing after-the-catch threat at minimum. However, there's reason to be optimistic about what lays ahead. While Campbell was a redshirt senior at Ohio State, he still won't turn 22 until July, and both his production and athletic metric variables are unmatched. Campbell (6-feet, 205 pounds) ran a 4.31-second 40-yard dash at the combine while also posting elite marks in the vertical (40 inches), broad jump (135 inches), and 20-yard shuttle (4.03). There's no doubt that Campbell is more toolsy than polished, but the after-the-catch skills he's already demonstrated are a nice complement to the downfield threats posed by T.Y. Hilton and Devin Funchess. Campbell caught an absurd 78.8 percent of his targets at 10.0 yards per target over the last two years, and he's still young enough to develop more of a downfield game with the reps. With all of this said, he's more of a long-term asset until he expands his skill set.
