  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Lands on IR

The Cardinals placed Swaim (calf) on injured reserve Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports. Swaim suffered a calf injury in the first half of Sunday's 45-29 loss to San Francisco and wasn't able to return. With Arizona out of playoff contention, the tight end's placement on IR means his season is over. Swaim finishes the campaign with 10 catches on 11 targets for 94 yards and no touchdowns.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Won't return vs. San Francisco

Swaim (calf) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's contest against the 49ers, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports. Swaim was carted to the locker room after sustaining a calf injury in the first half. He hauled in his lone target for 26 yards before exiting Sunday's game.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Exits with calf injury

Swaim (calf) is questionable to return for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Swaim sustained the calf injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game and was carted to the locker room. Elijah Higgins will now slot into the backup tight end role behind Trey McBride.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Good to go versus San Francisco

Swaim (back) is active for Sunday's contest against the 49ers. Swaim was able to log a limited practice Friday and will suit up for Sunday's contest as the backup tight end behind Trey McBride.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Chance to play Sunday

Swaim (back) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports. Swaim finished the week as a limited practice participant after not participating in the two previous sessions. If he's unable to suit up Sunday, Elijah Higgins and Blake Whiteheart will provide backup support at tight end behind starter Trey McBride.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Sits out Wednesday's practice

Swaim didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to a back injury, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Swaim popped up on the Cardinals' injury report Wednesday with a back issue following the team's Week 14 bye. His practice participation (or lack thereof) over the next two days will provide more clarity on his chances of suiting up for Sunday against the 49ers.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Adds two receptions to ledger

Swaim reeled in his two targets for 10 yards while playing 34 of the Cardinals' 68 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Steelers. Swaim finished with exactly two receptions for the third time in four games, but he's unlikely to see his profile on offense expand in any dramatic way with second-year tight end Trey McBride having locked down the top spot on the depth chart after a string of impressive receiving performances. In fact, Swaim may be more likely to see a downturn in playing time coming out of Arizona's Week 14 bye, as rookie sixth-round pick Elijah Higgins has made a case for more reps at tight end after recording 20-yard-plus receptions in both of the past two contests. Given that Swaim is 30 years old and set to reach free agency this offseason, the 3-10 Cardinals may not be incentivized to hand him snaps at the expense of Higgins.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Another two catches in Week 11

Swaim tallied two catches (on two targets) for 15 yards during Sunday's 21-16 defeat at Houston. Swaim has started in two-TE sets along with second-year pro Trey McBride the last two games, and the former has managed a pair of receptions on both occasions. Additionally, with Zach Ertz (quadriceps) on IR since getting injured Week 7, Swaim's usage has ranged from 35 to 49 percent of the offensive snaps over the last four outings. McBride is the clear-cut top tight end for the Cardinals at the moment, but Swaim still has made marks, albeit minimal, in the box score in four of the last seven contests on his way to a 7-58-0 line on seven targets. Expect Swaim's role to continue for as long as Ertz is sidelined.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Good to go Sunday

Swaim (back) is listed as active ahead of Sunday's game versus Atlanta. Swaim was considered questionable to play after he missed practice Thursday and was limited Friday due to a back injury. The 30-year-old will ultimately be able to suit up, and he should expect to maintain his role as Arizona's No. 2 tight end behind starter Trey McBride. Swaim has caught three passes for 30 yards across nine games this season.

  • Cardinals' Geoff Swaim: Links up with Arizona

Swaim is signing with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Swaim has spent each of the past three seasons in Tennessee and appeared in 17 contests last year. The veteran finished with 12 receptions on 16 targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in 2022. He should compete for a backup role behind Zach Ertz (knee) and Trey McBride.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Being phased out of passing attack

Swaim failed to corral his lone target while playing 31 snaps on offense in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Bengals. With rookie Chigoziem Okonkwo and top tight end Austin Hooper having both taken on heightened roles in the Tennessee passing attack of late, Swaim has functioned mainly as a blocker in recent weeks. After drawing seven targets across the Titans' first three games of the season, Swaim has been targeted a combined five times in Tennessee's subsequent eight contests. The lack of involvement isn't the result of any major downturn in playing time, either; Swaim has logged snap shares above 50 percent in each of those eight games.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Not targeted in loss

Swaim was not targeted in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Chiefs. As is typically the case, Swaim led the Titans' tight ends in snaps. However, his role is limited almost exclusively to blocking, as he has only reception combined across his last five games.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Not targeted in victory

Swaim was not targeted in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Texans. Swaim continued his quiet season, though that was hardly a surprise given that Malik Willis attempted only 10 passes on the day. Swaim now has zero catches in four of seven games for the campaign while serving primarily as a blocker for Tennessee.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Commands only one target

Swaim recorded no catches on one target in Sunday's 19-10 win over the Colts. Swaim maintained his typical role on offense, as he was on the field for 35 snaps -- good for a 61 percent rate. However, he also served primarily as a blocker and has now seen one or fewer targets in four of six games this season. Swaim has a total of seven receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown on the campaign.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Not targeted in win

Swaim was not targeted in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Colts. Swaim played 40 offensive snaps, which led the Titans' tight end corps. However, he failed to command a target, which isn't all that surprising given his primary duties are as a blocker. Through four games this season, Swaim has six receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Staying with Titans

The Titans have agreed to a one-year deal with Swaim, John Glennon of SI.com reports. The 28-year-old is coming off a 2021 season in which he recorded 31 catches (on 40 targets) for 210 yards and three TDs in 16 games. Swaim's fantasy upside this coming season hinges on what other moves the Titans make at tight end this offseason, given that Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt are both eligible for free agency.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Ends season quietly

Swaim recorded one reception on one target for two yards in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Texans. Swaim continued to make minimal impact on the Titans' offense, as he failed to surpass 10 receiving yards for the fourth consecutive game. While he recorded at least three receptions in seven of his 16 contests, he still managed only 210 yards on 31 catches for the campaign. Meanwhile, the recent re-emergence of Anthony Firkser likely means that Swaim will only take a further step back during the Titans' playoff run. Once the season concludes, Swaim will be a free agent, though he could be a fit to return to Tennessee on a short contract.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Scores short touchdown

Swaim recorded three receptions on three targets for nine yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-3 win over Miami. Swaim recorded three catches for the third time in his last four games. Despite that decent volume, he's surpassed 10 yards only once in that span. Swaim did manage to salvage his performance on Sunday with a one-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the victory. Even so, it was only his third touchdown catch of the season heading into a Week 18 matchup at Houston.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: Limited to one catch

Swaim recorded one catch on two targets for five yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to Pittsburgh. Swaim led Tennessee's tight ends with 59 (74 percent) offensive snaps. However, he wasn't utilized heavily in the passing game and had to split targets with both Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt. Swaim has been limited to only one catch in three of his last four games.

  • Titans' Geoff Swaim: One catch in return

Swaim recorded one reception on one target for eight yards in Sunday's 36-13 loss to the Patriots. Swaim returned from a one-game absence caused by a concussion. He was on the field for 73 percent of the team's offensive snaps but still only saw one target. Prior to missing the team's Week 11 contest, Swaim had recorded four receptions in three consecutive contests, so he could see an uptick in targets when the team retakes the field in Week 14 against Jacksonville.
