Jackson was struck and killed by a drunk driver on the side of Interstate 70 in the Indianapolis area Sunday morning, Justin L. Mack and Emma Kate Fittes of the Indianapolis Star reports. The accident occurred before 4 AM, when Jackson and a ride-sharing operator were killed. Jackson, an inside linebacker, posted 66 tackles and two sacks in 16 games with the Colts in 2016 before spending this past season on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.
Jackson had six total tackles in Sunday's win over Jacksonville. Jackson took over as a starter at inside linebacker after several injuries and suspensions. He averaged 6.6 tackles per game over his last five games after getting more playing time and put himself in a position to contend for a starting job next season.
Jackson had seven total tackles in Thursday's loss to Pittsburgh. He played 48 of 54 snaps on defense as he's getting all the playing time at inside linebacker opposite D'Qwell Jackson.
Jackson had seven tackles and a sack in Sunday's win over Tennessee. Jackson played 49 snaps on defense as he's become the starter at inside linebacker next to D'Qwell Jackson.
Jackson had four tackles and played just ten snaps on defense in Sunday's win at Green Bay. Indy went with just one inside linebacker most of the game as they were frequently in dime and nickel formations. Jackson's upside will be limited even though he's a starter since he comes off the field in most passing situations.
