  • Saints' Cameron Meredith: Agrees to pay cut
    By RotoWire Staff

Meredith (knee) has agreed to a reduced salary to remain with the Saints in 2019, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Meredith was previously set to make $3.4 million in 2019, but that number will now drop to $1.3 million. In the wake of a disappointing 2018 campaign in which the receiver played just six games thanks to knee injuries, Meredith was likely a candidate to be let go if he didn't accept the pay cut. Entering the draft, Meredith doesn't appear to be anything more than the potential No. 4 receiver in New Orleans behind Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn and Tre'Quan Smith.

  • Saints' Cameron Meredith: Aiming to be ready by OTAs
    By RotoWire Staff

Meredith (knee) expects to be healthy for the start of OTAs in May, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Meredith inked a two-year, $9.6 million contract with the Saints last April but was unable to gain a foothold due to complications with his surgically-repaired left knee. Overall, he scattered nine catches (on 10 targets) for 114 yards and one TD across 126 offensive snaps before undergoing arthroscopic surgery between Weeks 9 and 10 and being placed on injured reserve. While he's not a candidate to return during New Orleans' upcoming playoff run, Meredith is aiming for renewed health by the time the offseason program begins in earnest.

  • Meredith, who was placed on injured reserve Thursday, will undergo arthroscopic procedure to address the persistent swelling he has endured in his surgically-repaired left knee, Josh Katzenstein of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Coach Sean Payton said the Saints are optimistic the cleanup surgery will provide a permanent fix for the swelling Meredith has experienced in the same knee he tore during the 2017 preseason. That injury forced him to miss all of last season, with Meredith ultimately landing with the Saints after the Bears declined to match the two-year, $9.6 million deal New Orleans offered. While the first year of that deal proved to be a bust, the Saints are hopeful a healthy Meredith can serve as a quality complement to No. 1 wideout Michael Thomas in 2019. As for the remainder of this season, the Saints will turn to the newly-signed Dez Bryant along with rookie Tre'Quan Smith and slot man Austin Carr to offer depth behind Thomas in the receiver ranks. Ted Ginn (knee) is also a candidate to return from IR later in the season to provide additional relief.

  • Saints' Cameron Meredith: Headed for IR
    By RotoWire Staff

Meredith will be placed on injured reserve by the Saints and will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Meredith missed the entire 2017 season after tearing both his ACL and MCL in the preseason, and was inactive for the first two games of 2018, seemingly due to lingering effects. He had also been an afterthought in the offense of late, going without a catch (and under 20 snaps) in three consecutive games. Now that there is a second narrative behind his lower usage, as well as additional context behind Wednesday's signing of free agent receiver Dez Bryant. Meredith is expected to recover in full, and should be available for the second year of his contract in 2019.

  • Saints' Cameron Meredith: No practice Wednesday
    By RotoWire Staff

Meredith (knee) didn't participate in practice Wednesday. Meredith has failed to draw a target for three consecutive games, averaging just 13.3 offensive snaps during that stretch. With the Saints' addition of Dez Bryant on Wednesday, Meredith is a candidate to plunge further in the pecking order at receiver within an offense that revolves around Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara. Before he can figure out his new standing, though, Meredith will have to prove the health of his left knee.
