Reid (wrist) is making good progress in his recovery from January surgery, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports. The 2018 third-round pick started 12 of 16 games as a rookie and quickly emerged as one of the more reliable players in an inconsistent Houston secondary. He may see fewer tackle opportunities playing next to hard-hitter Tashuan Gipson instead of the rangier Tyrann Mathieu, but Reid should still have plenty of chances to make big plays, as Houston's intimidating front seven consistently pressures quarterbacks. The second-year safety seems to be on track for full medical clearance before the start of training camp.
Reid (ribs) is scheduled for surgery on his wrist this week, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Reid missed the second half of a playoff loss to Indianapolis while nursing a rib injury, but his wrist appears to be a bigger concern for the offseason. The 2018 third-round pick started 12 of 16 games as a rookie, piling up 88 tackles (70 solo), 10 passes defensed, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one touchdown. Reid should make a full recovery before training camp and appears to be locked in as a starting safety.
Reid (ribs) was ruled out for Saturday's wild-card game against Indianapolis. Reid sustained the injury during the first half and was originally designated questionable to return. Andre Hal is set to see an increased role at safety alongside Tyrann Mathieu.
Reid had four tackles (three solo), two passes defensed and forced a fumble in Sunday's 29-13 win over Cleveland. Reid's hustle play, when he chased down Cleveland's Antonio Callaway and stripped the ball just before Callaway reached the end zone, resulted in a turnover. It was the fourth time in the last five games he's had a hand in a turnover, including a pick-six Week 11 against Washington. The rookie used injuries to others in secondary to get increased playing time and continues to see a significant amount of snaps after the injured players returned.
Reid had six tackles and an interception over 56 plays in a Week 5 win over the Cowboys. Reid's pick was his first NFL interception. He quickly reacted to a pass defensed by Johnathan Joseph and dove for the ball before it hit the ground. We could see more of the rookie in the coming weeks if Kareem Jackson is needed at cornerback after Kayvon Webster injured his quadriceps against Dallas. Reid, Houston's third-round draft pick out of Stanford, has 21 tackles, three passes defensed and one interception over five games.
