Williams (knee) officially signed his tender with the Chargers on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Williams was solid for the Chargers last season, recording 23 tackles (19 solo) and one interception in nine games. He did suffer a knee injury that kept him out for the majority of the season, and it's unclear whether he'll be ready for offseason workouts. At the moment, the 25-year-old projects to start at the corner spot opposite Casey Hayward.
Williams (knee) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Ricky Henne of the Chargers' official site reports. Williams has been dealing with a lingering knee injury since Week 10, and played only one defensive snap during that period of time. The 25-year-old now lands on season-ending injured reserve, finishing his 2018 campaign with 22 tackles, five passes defended and one interception. Williams will turn his attention towards getting healthy for the 2019 season.
Williams (knee) won't play against the Chiefs on Thursday. Williams was unable to log a practice in any capacity in the short week. The Penn State product has played in just two games since the Chargers' Week 8 bye -- Week 9 against the Seahawks and Week 13 against the Steelers. In those games, Williams logged one defensive snap and 31 snaps on special teams. In his absence, Brandon Facyson will likely serve as the top backup to Michael Davis on Thursday.
Williams (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice report. Williams lost his starting role opposite Casey Hayward to Michael Davis midway through the season, and it appears his lingering knee injury may have played a big role in that decision. The veteran has missed four of the past five contests, and the short week heading into Kansas City seems to be a less than ideal time for him to return. Regardless, his practice status on Tuesday will serve as a better indicator, given that the team simply did a walk-through Monday.
Williams (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. Williams was upgraded to a full practice Thursday after having been limited to begin the week. It appears that Williams has fully recovered from a knee injury sustained Week 10, putting him on track to suit up during Sunday's tilt against the Cardinals.
