  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Notches second sack
    By RotoWire Staff

Lawrence generated five tackles (three solo), a sack and a forced fumble in Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Vikings. The rookie first-round pick now has two sacks through his first five NFL games, and he forced a fumble on Dalvin Cook, who ended up recovering the loose ball. Lawrence is a flaky IDP asset after finishing three games with two or fewer tackles.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Notches sack in win
    By RotoWire Staff

Lawrence notched two tackles (one solo) and a sack in Sunday's 32-31 win over the Buccaneers. In addition to his sack in Sunday's win, Lawrence also recorded a tackle for a loss and two quarterback hits. A low usage rate still limits his value in IDP formats, but if Lawrence continues clogging up the backfield like he did Sunday, more snaps could be in the 21-year-old's future.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Clear for Week 2
    By RotoWire Staff

Lawrence (shoulder) is not listed on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Bills. Lawrence started the week as a limited practice participant due to the shoulder issue, but he was able to avoid the questionable tag. The 21-year-old played 28 defensive snaps and had one assisted tackle during his NFL debut last week.

  • Lawrence (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Lawrence appears to have injured his shoulder during Sunday's season-opening loss to the Cowboys, during which he recorded one assisted tackle. The rookie first-round pick will work to get fully healthy ahead of New York's tilt against the Bills in Week 2.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Giants select at 17
    By RotoWire Staff

The Giants selected Lawrence in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, 17th overall. Lawrence is an objectively talented athlete with a 5.05-second 40-yard dash at a mammoth 6-foot-5, 342 pounds. He was highly productive in his true freshman season at Clemson, totaling 62 tackles, 6.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss. Unfortunately, from that point he totaled just 71 tackles, four sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss in the subsequent 25 games. While he's more than just a blob who takes up space, it's concerning that his production fell off like that, and the career of Dontari Poe gives us a useful case study in how a player of his genre might apply to the NFL. Poe had some useful seasons but ultimately failed to turn into a notable NFL presence, and Poe was even more athletic. Danny Shelton is another concerning recent case study for the sort of space-eating tackle Lawrence projects as. You in any case have to wonder why the Giants would move Damon Harrison if they'd consequently feel the need to make a selection like this one. Lawrence is unlikely to pop up as an IDP unless his nature changes.
