Badgley will be elevated from the practice squad Sunday against Houston to take the place of Rodrigo Blankenship (hip), JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports. Badgley started the season with the Titans but was let go after a poor Week 1 performance in which he missed his lone field-goal attempt and one of two PAT tries. Despite his accuracy issues, Badgley has some upside in this favorable matchup for the Colts offense. If he proves serviceable, Badgley could see more opportunities in the event Blankenship's absence stretches beyond Week 6.
The Colts will sign Badgley to their practice squad Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Badgley missed his only field-goal attempt with the Titans in Week 1 before being promptly cut by the team. The 26-year-old may not have to wait long for his next opportunity, however, as the Colts could elevate him to the roster for Sunday's game against the Texans if top kicker Rodrigo Blankenship (hip) isn't available.
The Titans waived Badgley from their active roster Monday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports. Badgley struggled in the opener, missing his only field-goal attempt and converting just one of his two extra-point tries. The Titans clearly did not what like they saw, and the 26-year-old is now a free agent. He spent his first three years in the NFL with the Chargers and struggled with long-distance accuracy, connecting on just 10 of his 19 tries from beyond 40 yards last season.
Badgley missed his only field-goal attempt and converted one of his two extra-point attempts in Sunday's Week 1 contest against Arizona. Badgley joined the Titans on Saturday, but didn't endear himself in his first opportunity with the team. His first kick was a missed extra point partway through the second quarter, and one drive later he pushed a 46-yard field-goal attempt wide left. Badgley struggled with accuracy as a member of the Chargers, and initial returns suggest that area of his game has not improved.
Badgley signed a contract with the Titans on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The move comes after Sam Ficken (groin) was placed on injured reserve, the team's second kicker to land on IR this season. Badgley's stretches of inaccuracy ultimately cost him the kicking competition after starting the past three seasons with the Chargers, but previous Chargers castoffs such as Josh Lambo and Younghoe Koo have both succeeded in recent years after departures from their original franchise.
