Spillane signed a contract with the Steelers on Friday, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Spillane was promoted from the Titans' practice squad in early October and appeared in two games with the team before being waived. The 23-year-old is likely to serve in a special-teams role should he make it through training camp and onto the 53-man roster in Pittsburgh.
The Titans promoted Spillane to their 53-man roster on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports. Spillane -- who led the Titans in tackles during the preseason -- spent the first five weeks of the season on the practice squad before his promotion. The rookie out of Western Michigan will likely provide depth at the linebacker position.
