• Football Team's Antonio Gibson: Won't need toe procedure

  Gibson indicated that he won't require an offseason procedure to address the toe issue he played through down the stretch this season, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Gibson, who is currently listed on the Washington Football Team web site as 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, also noted that he hopes to slim down some this offseason, with an eye toward gaining more explosiveness as a runner. In 14 games this past season, the 2020 third-rounder carried 170 times for 795 yards and 11 TDs, while catching 36 of his 44 targets for 247 yards. Looking ahead, Gibson is slated to head his team's backfield from the get-go in 2021 and in that context, he should see increased volume as long as he can stay on the field. Also remaining under contract with Washington next season are pass-catching ace J.D. McKissic, as well as Peyton Barber and Bryce Love.

  Gibson (toe) rushed 14 times for 31 yards and secured two of three targets for four yards in Washington's 31-23 wild-card loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday night. The rookie back was able to work through his toe issue as he had during the final two regular-season games, but he unsurprisingly found running room at a premium against the Buccaneers' No. 1-ranked rush defense. Despite missing two games to injury and splitting carries throughout the majority of the campaign, Gibson still finished his first pro season with a solid 4.7 yards per carry, 11 rushing touchdowns and 36 receptions over 14 regular-season games. He'll look to build on those numbers significantly in 2021 while likely serving in a more clear-cut lead-back role.

  Gibson (toe) is active for Saturday's wild-card game versus the Buccaneers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. For a third consecutive contest, Gibson is playing through a turf toe injury. In the first two outings, he combined for 33 touches for 150 yards from scrimmage. That said, he hasn't reached the end zone since torching the Cowboys for three touchdowns back in Week 12.

  Gibson (toe) is listed as questionable for Saturday's wild-card game versus the Buccaneers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Gibson sat out Weeks 14 and 15 due to a turf toe injury, but he was able to cap the season with appearances in both of Washington's final two games of the campaign. Considering he took on 33 touches for 150 yards from scrimmage in those outings, he should be good to go this weekend, which will be confirmed approximately 90 minutes before Saturday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff.

  Gibson (toe) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. Gibson played through the toe injury the past two weeks, but he felt well enough to handle 20 touches and play 59 percent of the offensive snaps in Washington's victory over Philadelphia in the regular-season finale. He draws a tough matchup in the wild-card round, facing a Bucs defense that led the league in both rushing yards allowed (80.6 per game) and opponent yards per carry (3.6).
