Davis signed a reserve/future contract with the Vikings on Monday. Davis appeared in two games for Minnesota this season but spent most of 2019 on the team's practice squad. The undrafted rookie out of Sam Houston State will now have a full offseason with the team to prepare for his sophomore campaign.
Davis was charged with drunk driving in St. Paul on Monday, Paul Walsh of the Star Tribune reports. According to the police report, Davis was stopped about 2:55 a.m. on Oct. 26 after a state trooper clocked him going 81 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. Davis has resided on the Vikings' practice squad since Oct. 14, and was active for Week's 8 and 10 this season.
Davis signed with the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Davis cleared waivers Wednesday, and, conveniently, a practice-squad spot opened up when the Titans signed running back Khari Blasingame to their 53-man roster. The former could be brought back to the active roster if Adam Thielen (hamstring) is unable to play Sunday against the Broncos.
Davis was waived by Minnesota on Tuesday. Davis got into two of Minnesota's past three games and played three offensive snaps. His release is perhaps a sign that Josh Doctson (hamstring) is ready to return from IR.
The Vikings promoted Davis to the 53-man roster Wednesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports. Adam Thielen (hamstring) isn't expected to be ready for Thursday's game against the Redskins, opening the door for Davis to make his NFL debut. The undrafted rookie out of Sam Houston State posted 40 total touchdowns over his final three collegiate seasons, and he is in line to serve as the No. 4 wideout if Thielen is in fact inactive.
