Becker (undisclosed) was cut from injured reserve Monday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official website reports. Becker was placed on injured reserve during training camp and has been sidelined for the entire season. The 23-year-old has spent time with the Cardinals and Falcons over the past two years, but he has yet to successfully secure a role in the NFL after a four-year career at SMU.
The Falcons placed Becker (undisclosed) on injured reserve Friday. Atlanta signed fellow tight end David Wells in a corresponding transaction. After spending most of his collegiate career at SMU operating as a blocker, Becker has yet to successfully secure a role in the NFL.
Becker signed with the Falcons on Tuesday, Matt Haley of the team's official site reports. Becker failed to make the 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie with the Cardinals last season. The 23-year-old was mainly a blocking tight end in college, as he accrued just 16 receptions for 198 yards and five touchdowns over four seasons at SMU. He'll battle for a depth role in Atlanta.
The Cardinals waived Becker on Sunday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. The undrafted rookie out of SMU was seeking a run-blocking role with the Cardinals, but he has been cut two weeks before the season opener. He could be a practice squad player if he's not picked up by another team.
