The 30-year-old fullback had a strong preseason, but he lost the position battle to undrafted rookie Troy Hairston. Nonetheless, Quessenberry has returned to Houston on a practice-squad deal. He made his NFL debut last year with the Texans, playing 18 snaps -- mostly on special teams -- during a Week 16 win over the Chargers.

Kubena speculates the Texans will carry at least one fullback, and Quessenberry has been getting practice reps with the first team even before Janovich was released.
