  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Agrees to rework deal

Mosley signed a new two-year, $17.25 million contract with the Jets on Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Mosley was set to account for $21.5 million against the cap in 2024, but his new deal will save the team at least $8 million in space. As part of his new agreement, Mosley will receive an extra year on his contract, including $13.25 million in guaranteed salary.

  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Third straight 150-tackle season

Mosley finished the 2023 season with 152 tackles (81 solo) and seven passes defensed. Mosley's season totals included one interception and 0.5 sacks. The veteran linebacker showed no signs of slowing down at age 31, exceeding 150 tackles for a third consecutive campaign. Mosley has posted either seven or eight passes defensed in six of nine NFL seasons. The Jets may restructure Mosley's contract to bring down his $21.5 million cap hit in 2024, but he's likely to return as a key figure on one of the league's best defenses next season.

  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Costly penalty in Week 14 loss

Mosley totaled nine tackles (seven solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Bills. Mosley led the Jets in tackles, but his nice tackle total was overshadowed by a boneheaded penalty, as he jumped across the line of scrimmage when the Bills were simply trying to draw the Jets offside on fourth down in Buffalo territory late in a scoreless first half. Buffalo capitalized on Mosley's mistake and went on to score the game's first points with a touchdown on that drive.

  • Jets' C.J. Mosley: Posts nine tackles Week 13

Mosley registered nine tackles (three solo) during Sunday's 27-22 defeat versus the Vikings. Mosley failed to reach double-digit stops for just the fifth time in 2022, as leading tackler Jordan Whitehead notched his most productive performance of the season with 11 tackles. Nevertheless, the eighth-year linebacker has still totaled nearly twice as many tackles as the Jets' next closest defender this season, and he now ranks sixth in the entire NFL with 116. Mosley's worst tackling performance of the season came in the Jets' Week 9 win over the Bills. He'll look to make up for this pedestrian six-tackle outing during the teams' Week 14 rematch in Buffalo.

Mosley (back) recorded 10 tackles (six solo) and a sack in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jaguars. Mosley once again led the Jets in tackles, reaching double digits for the fourth consecutive game. Mosley had the ball go through his hands deep in Jets territory on the Jaguars' final drive, coming tantalizingly close to a game-sealing interception. The ball was caught at the one-yard line by Jaguars receiver Marvin Jones, but the Jets held the Jaguars out of the end zone on the next two plays to win the game, benefiting from the Jaguars' curious decision to spike the ball on third down rather than run a play.

Mosley totaled 13 tackles (11 solo) in Sunday's 33-18 loss to Philadelphia. Mosley's deficiencies in coverage have contributed to opposing running backs and tight ends having their way with the Jets' hapless defense in the passing game, but the veteran linebacker is still a solid tackler. He tied teammate Quincy Williams for the team lead in tackles in this game, and Mosley has racked up double-digit stops in six of his 11 games played in 2021.
