  • Eagles' Saquon Barkley: Signing with Eagles

Barkley and the Eagles have reached agreement on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75 million and includes $26 million fully guaranteed at signing, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. While the dollar amounts in initial contract reports are suspect, Schefter was specific about all the key details on this one. The Eagles have upgraded their offense by swapping out D'Andre Swift (Bears) for Barkley, who figures to have the best offensive line of his career after spending six years with the division-rival Giants. QB Jalen Hurts' proficiency as both a scrambler and short-yardage runner takes away some of the receiving and TD production that might otherwise go to a running back, but the Eagles will surely make Barkley a priority after signing him to a large contract, and at the very least it should be a good situation for piling up rushing yards.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Could talk with Eagles, Texans

The Eagles and Texans are interested in signing Barkley, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports. While numerous other teams presumably have some level of interest, it sounds like Houston and Philadelphia are among the more serious candidates at the start of the free-agent negotiating period Monday afternoon. Barkley is widely viewed as the best RB among a strong group of free agents at the position, though it seems D'Andre Swift (Bears) and Tony Pollard (Titans) are ahead of him when it comes to reaching verbal agreements with suitors. Barkley figures to come out ahead of them financially, of course.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Won't be franchise tagged

The Giants don't intend to use the franchise tag on Barkley ahead of Tuesday's deadline, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter report. Tagging the running back for a second straight year would have put the Giants on the hook for a $12.1 million salary in 2024. Barkley, who turned 27 last month, will become a free agent in the coming days as a result. In his sixth campaign with the team that selected him second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Barkley carried the ball 247 times for 962 yards and six TDs to go along with 41 catches on 60 targets for 280 yards and four receiving scores over 14 contests in 2023.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Finds end zone twice in Week 18 win

Barkley carried the ball 18 times for 46 yards and two touchdowns and caught both his targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Eagles. The running back led the charge in the upset win, scoring two-yard and three-yard TDs in the second quarter as the Giants raced out to a 24-0 lead before halftime. Barkley failed to reach 1,000 rushing yards on the season, finishing with 962 yards on 247 carries for a lackluster 3.9 YPC, but he ended the campaign on a high note with five rushing TDs in the last five games. The 26-year-old will be one of the more attractive free-agent options at his position this offseason.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Quiet in Week 17 loss

Barkley rushed 12 times for 39 yards and caught three of six targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 26-25 loss to the Rams. Barkley was held in check on the ground, posting his second-lowest rushing yardage total of the season. He could have had a bigger game as a pass catcher; Tyrod Taylor threw behind a wide open Barkley on what would have been a go-ahead two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, and Barkley had a drop with plenty of green grass in front of him on New York's final drive, which ended in a missed field goal. Barkley needs 84 rushing yards in Week 18 against the Eagles to reach 1,000 for the fourth time in six NFL seasons.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Limited by elbow injury

Barkley was a limited participant at Wednesday's walkthrough due to an elbow injury, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports. Barkley last had practice restrictions placed upon him during Week 11 prep. In the four games since, he's turned 73 touches into 274 yards from scrimmage and three rushing touchdowns. Considering Barkley was able to log some on-field work to kick off this week, he likely isn't in any danger of missing Sunday's contest against the Rams, but his status still will be monitored to ensure that's the case.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Finds end zone against Eagles

Barkley rushed the ball 23 times for 80 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 33-25 loss to the Eagles. He added three receptions on six targets for four yards, and he also rushed in a two-point conversion. The Giants' offense was particularly reliant on Barkley, and he reached 20 rushing attempts for the second time in his last three games. He wasn't particularly efficient in the tough matchup, as his longest gain went for only 12 yards, and he was held to two yards or fewer on 13 of his attempts. Nevertheless, he ended up with a solid fantasy performance thanks to his seven-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Even in the poor New York offense, Barkley has topped 80 rushing yards in half of his 12 games this season and needs only 123 more yards on the ground to reach 1,000 for the campaign.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Bust Candidate (Lineup Decisions)

Barkley played 66% of the Giants' snaps through the first three quarters last week, which wasn't what we've been used to seeing. In the first half Matt Breida replaced Barkley on pretty much every third down but Barkley took that role back in the third quarter ... not that the Giants had the ball much in the third quarter (six official snaps; two more were called back by offensive penalties). And then once the Giants were down three scores to start the fourth quarter, Barkley barely played. Barkley told the media this week that it was his coaches' call on his third-down work and that rookie Eric Gray was someone "you guys will see a little bit more of." While there's no definitive word on Barkley's third-down role, it should be safely assumed that he'll get pulled in lopsided games. Philadelphia's offense should have no trouble scoring on the Giants defense, so there's concern we'll see a lighter workload again for Barkley, who has run for 3 or fewer yards on 75.6% of his 41 carries over the past three games. Tack on an offensive line that's been problematic all year and it almost doesn't matter that Philadelphia's run defense has cratered with Kenneth Walker becoming the latest of four straight running backs getting 15 or more PPR points against them. Barkley is no better than a middle-of-the-pack RB2 worth a start over David Montgomery, Derrick Henry and Ty Chandler only on the strength of his upside, which was realized two games ago against the Packers. I'd much rather start Travis Etienne, Breece Hall, De'Von Achane and Tony Pollard.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Highly productive in win

Barkley rushed 20 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns and secured three of four targets for 15 yards in the Giants' 24-22 win over the Packers on Monday night. He also lost a fumble. Barkley handled his usual workload with considerable success, posting five- and one-yard touchdown runs in the second and third quarter, respectively. His carry total was his highest since Week 8, while his yardage tally qualified as his best in the last four contests. The dynamic back has at least three catches in all but two games this season and he should be in for another busy afternoon in a Week 15 road battle against the Saints.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Quiet in Week 12 victory

Barkley rushed 12 times for 46 yards and caught one of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Patriots. Barkley finished with a season low in rushing yards, as he was bottled up after producing runs of 14 and 19 yards in the first quarter. The star running back is usually the focal point of the Giants' offense, and Barkley has at least 12 carries and three targets in all nine games he's played this season. After a Week 13 bye, Barkley will need 135 scrimmage yards in Week 14 against the Packers to reach 1,000 for the fourth time in six NFL seasons.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Two receiving scores in Week 11 win

Barkley rushed 14 times for 83 yards while catching four of five targets for 57 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-19 win over Washington. Barkley opened the scoring with a 24-yard receiving touchdown, on which he showed off his downfield pass-catching ability by securing a back-shoulder throw and keeping his feet from going out of bounds. He added a five-yard receiving score in the fourth quarter to give the Giants a 21-12 lead. Barkley's second touchdown came four plays after he broke free for a season-long 36-yard run, and he added a 31-yard run on New York's next drive. Despite rushing for minus-2 yards in the first half, Barkley finished with 77-plus yards for the fifth time in his last six appearances. He should remain the focal point of a Giants offense quarterbacked by Tommy DeVito in Week 12 against the 2-8 Patriots.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Another limited practice

Barkley (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Barkley maintained his activity level from one day prior, which seemingly is the result of the running back tweaking his previously sprained right ankle in the late moments of this past Sunday's defeat in Dallas. He's been the sole bright spot in an offense lacking on much firepower, especially with undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito (shoulder) at quarterback. Over his last five games, Barkley has racked up 124 touches for 518 yards from scrimmage and one receiving TD. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he enters the weekend with an injury designation for Sunday's contest at Washington.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Cracks century mark in total yards

Barkley finished with 16 carries for 90 yards and three receptions on four targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 30-6 loss to the Raiders. Barkley started Sunday's contest clear of any injury designations after battling ankle and elbow injuries in recent weeks. The Giants' superstar displayed his improved health by reaching triple digits in total yardage for the third consecutive week. Barkley has averaged 27.5 combined touches in four games since returning from injury in Week 6, and he may be asked to carry a heavier load on offense since quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) is feared to have torn an ACL in the loss to Las Vegas. Expect the flailing Giants to lean on its star tailback in a road tilt against Dallas next Sunday.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Clear for Week 9

Barkley (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's contest in Las Vegas, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Barkley endured practice limitations during Week 9 prep due to a listed ankle injury, which likely was maintenance related due to the high-ankle sprain that sidelined him Weeks 3 through 5. With his status confirmed for Sunday, he'll be looking to continue a stretch in which he's been the only reliable offensive option for the Giants. Over the last three games, Barkley has piled up 344 yards from scrimmage and one receiving touchdown on 91 touches.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Gets 39 touches in OT loss

Barkley rushed 36 times for 128 yards and caught three of five targets for zero yards in Sunday's 13-10 overtime loss to the Jets. Barkley was already the focal point of the offense, but the Giants leaned even more heavily on the running back after undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito took over under center in the second quarter following Tyrod Taylor's (ribs) exit. A 34-yard Barkley run, coupled with a pair of unnecessary roughness calls on the Jets defense, set up DeVito's six-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, which gave the Giants a 10-7 lead. Barkley would have a high touch floor if DeVito remains under center in Week 9 against the Raiders, but New York's entire offense would have a far higher ceiling if either Daniel Jones (neck) or Taylor is cleared to return by then.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Cleared for Week 8

Barkley (elbow) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jets, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. The lack of an injury designation isn't particularly surprising after Barkley was able to return to last Sunday's win over the Commanders after hyperextending his elbow during the contest. He finished the game with an 83 percent snap share and 24 touches, after handling 79 percent of snaps and 28 touches the week before in a loss to Buffalo in his first game back from an ankle injury. Barkley should be busy again this Sunday and will once again have quarterback Tyrod Taylor alongside him in the backfield rather than Daniel Jones (neck).

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Another limited showing

Barkley (elbow) was a limited at practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Barkley maintained his activity level for a second consecutive session to kick off Week 8 prep as he manages the hyperextended left elbow that he suffered this past Sunday against the Commanders. Considering he logged 83 percent of the snaps and racked up 24 touches while playing through the injury, he doesn't appear to be in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Jets, but there's a chance that he enters the weekend with a designation.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Begins week as limited

Barkley (elbow) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Barkley hyperextended his left elbow in this past Sunday's win over the Commanders but continued to play through the issue on his way to 24 touches for 118 yards from scrimmage and one receiving touchdown on an 83 percent snap share. He told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com after the game that he'll "be alright," but the Giants nonetheless are capping Barkley's reps to kick off Week 8 prep. As a result, Barkley's status will be one to watch as the weekend draws closer to get a sense of his availability for Sunday's game against the Jets.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Avoids injury designation

Barkley (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup with Washington, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Barkley returned from a two-game absence for last Sunday's 14-9 loss to Buffalo and took 28 touches for 98 yards while playing 79 percent of snaps on offense. He was limited in practice earlier this week, but there's not much concern about his health/role after Barkley confirmed that he made it through the Bills game without any setbacks. This Sunday, he'll face a defense ranked 23rd in rushing yards allowed per game (129) and 26th in opponent YPC (4.6), though efficient production is a tall task all the same given New York's continued injury woes on the offensive line. Left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) and swing tackle Matt Peart (shoulder) already have been ruled out, while right tackle Evan Neal (ankle) and quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) are listed as questionable, and both appear in serious danger of missing the game.

  • Giants' Saquon Barkley: Limited in practice again

Barkley (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. The Giants are managing Barkley's workload after he took 28 touches in a 14-9 loss to the Bills on Sunday in his first week back from a two-game absence. He should be ready for a huge role again this Sunday against Washington, having told reporters Thursday that he's avoided any setbacks with the ankle injury, per Matt Citak of Giants.com.
