Giants' Kadarius Toney: Being eased back in

Coach Joe Judge noted Monday that Kadarius Toney will be limited as the New York Giants take things "day by day" with their 2021 first-rounder, who was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list this past Tuesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.Though the rookie wideout has been cleared to take the field, the team will ease Toney back into the mix after the time he missed. Once he's up to speed, the Florida product will look to carve out a role in a Giants receiving corps that also includes Kenny Golladay, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard.

Giants' Kadarius Toney: Likely to be eased into offense

Kadarius Toney is likely to be brought along slowly by the New York Giants to start the coming campaign, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.Toney was selected by the team 20th overall in this year's draft, and as a rookie he'll contend for touches with free-agent acquisition Kenny Golladay, as well as returning veterans Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. While Toney's superb playmaking ability could have him contributing on special teams as a returner out of the gate, he'll likely be eased into the offense in specialized packages. As the University of Florida standout grows into a more polished route runner as the season rolls along, however, an increase in his offensive role is a plausible expectation.

Giants' Kadarius Toney: Florida WR heads to New York

The New York Giants selected Kadarius Toney in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 20th overall. The Giants traded back from their original 11th overall pick, and at their new spot they reeled in Toney to add some speed and yards-after-the-catch ability at receiver. Toney broke out late at Florida and probably can't offer much in the way of polished route running, but he's supremely explosive and in the meantime his ability to turn short catches into big yardage could earn his way into playing time early on in the 2021 season. The problem as of the draft's first round is that Toney projects to run routes primarily where Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram do already, so ideally the Giants would move one or both so that Toney can draw targets inside while Kenny Golladay and Darius Slayton run routes on the outside.
