  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Bucs running it back on offense

Godwin will benefit from offensive stability with Tampa Bay slated to re-sign quarterback Baker Mayfield to a three-year, $100 million contract and Mike Evans having returned via a two-year, $52 million contract, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Godwin at one point looked like he'd have to adapt to another change under center while potentially also having to line up with Evans elsewhere for the first time in his career, but the Buccaneers' early offseason moves instead have secured impressive offensive stability. The retention of both Mayfield and Evans should provide fantasy managers real confidence that Godwin's involvement on offense will remain effective and core to Tampa Bay's game plan, especially with new offensive coordinator Liam Coen having stated that he envisions the 28-year-old wideout moving back to the slot. Godwin has put together three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving campaigns, and it's possible the passing game could take a real step forward in 2024 with Mayfield more comfortable in Year 2.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Likely returning to slot

New Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen said Tuesday that he anticipates moving Godwin back inside to the slot, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Godwin took 32 percent of his snaps from the slot in 2023, down from 60 percent the previous year and 53 percent in 2021. His volume didn't suffer too much (130 targets), but his catch rate plunged to 63.8 percent after four straight years above 71 percent, and he finished with his lowest per-game averages for receptions (4.9) and receiving yards (60.2) since 2018 -- which was also the last time his slot rate dipped below 49 percent. While perfectly capable on the perimeter, Godwin is probably at his best inside. The shift to more outside work last season apparently stemmed from the Bucs' belief that it might help keep him healthy, and while Godwin did in fact play every game for the first time since 2018, he's nonetheless expected to man the slot more often with the team shifting from Dave Canales to Coen as offensive coordinator. It sounds like a good thing for his fantasy value, especially given that Godwin also gets a lot of playing time in two-wideout formations, unlike many other slot guys.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Four receptions in playoff defeat

Godwin brought in four of eight targets for 40 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-23 divisional-round loss to the Lions on Sunday. The veteran wideout couldn't shake loose for any big gains against the Lions' inconsistent secondary, but he still finished third in receptions and receiving yards while tying for second in targets. Godwin's final line was fairly representative of his final month's worth of games, as he topped out at six receptions and 81 yards in terms of single-game highs over the last four contests. However, Godwin did post an impressive 83-1,024-2 line across 17 regular-season contests. He is slated to draw a robust $20 million base salary and count $27.5 million overall against the team's cap in 2024.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Clear for divisional round

Godwin (knee/personal) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game at Detroit. The Buccaneers kept close tabs on Godwin's on-field work this week, holding him out of Wednesday's walkthrough before capping his reps at Thursday's walkthrough due to a knee injury. He then missed practice entirely Friday because of a personal issue, but neither concern will impact his availability for the Buccaneers' second contest of this postseason. Back in Week 6, Godwin hauled in six of seven targets for 77 yards against the Lions in a 20-6 loss.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Limited in Thursday's walkthrough

Godwin (knee) was limited at Thursday's walkthrough. Godwin had practice restrictions due to a knee issue back in Weeks 15 and 16, and his day off last Friday also was attributed to a knee concern. At Wednesday's walkthrough, he logged no activity for the same reason, but his ability to get back on the field one day later seems to imply he's trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's divisional-round game at Detroit. In the end, Friday's practice report will unveil whether or not Godwin enters the weekend with a designation.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Sits out walk-through practice

Godwin (knee) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. During the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card win over the Eagles on Monday, Godwin logged 51 of 70 snaps on offense en route to catching four of his five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown. Now that the wideout is opening the week as a non-participant in practice, however, his status is worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's divisional-round playoff game against the Lions.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Caps win with touchdown

Godwin brought in four of five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 32-9 wild-card win over the Eagles on Monday night. Godwin had a relatively quiet night until the latter portion of the fourth quarter, when he put the Buccaneers' final points of the night on the board with a 23-yard touchdown grab. He now has at least four receptions in five of the last six games and has scored twice in the last three, giving him a solid fantasy floor heading into a Sunday afternoon divisional-round battle against the Lions that could feature plenty of passing.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Paces pass catchers in win

Godwin brought in six of seven targets for 51 yards and rushed once for four yards in the Buccaneers' 9-0 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Godwin led the Buccaneers in receptions and receiving yards on a quiet day for the air attack. The veteran wideout finished the regular season on a high note, recording at least six receptions in three of the last four games and posting over 50 receiving yards in each of the final five contests of the regular season. Godwin also eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the third straight campaign and fourth time in the last five years with Sunday's production, and he'll draw a favorable matchup to open the postseason against the Eagles' shaky secondary in a home wild-card matchup next weekend.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Scores impressive TD in loss

Godwin brought in three of five targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 23-13 loss to the Saints on Sunday. Godwin checked in second in receiving yards for the Bucs on the afternoon, getting to that total with an impressive 47-yard touchdown grab with 1:37 remaining. Godwin now has at least 78 receiving yards in three straight contests, and with Sunday's production, he heads into the Week 18 regular-season finale just 27 yards short of his third consecutive 1,000-yard season.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: WRs to Start

Godwin, finally, has become a go-to guy for Baker Mayfield with at least 11 targets in three games in a row. Godwin has responded with at least 13.9 PPR points in each of his past two outings against the Packers and Jaguars, and he should have another productive performance against the Saints in Week 17. One of Godwin's best games of the season actually came at New Orleans in Week 4 when he had eight catches for 114 yards on 11 targets for 19.4 PPR points, but Mike Evans left that game with a hamstring injury. Godwin also has scored at least 14.3 PPR points against the Saints in three of his past four meetings.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Another impressive showing in win

Godwin brought in six of 11 targets for 78 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-12 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also rushed once for one yard. Godwin led the Buccaneers in targets while checking in tied for second in receptions and as the sole runner-up in receiving yards. The veteran wideout has been the subject of plenty of Baker Mayfield's attention during the last two games, which arguably have been the quarterback's best yet this season. In that span, Godwin has hauled in 16 of his 23 targets for 233 yards, his most productive two-game stretch of the season by far. He'll look to carry the momentum over into a Week 17 home divisional clash against a stingy Saints secondary.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Good to go

Godwin (knee) was a full practice participant Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin had season highs for catches (10) and receiving yards (155) while playing through the same injury during last week's 34-20 win over the Packers. He's now avoided an injury designation altogether, following last week's 'questionable' tag, with a full practice Friday confirming his knee issue isn't a serious problem.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Returns to practice

Godwin (knee) returned to practice Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin played through the same injury last week after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, ultimately catching 10 of 12 targets for a season-high 155 yards in a 34-20 win over the Packers. He should be fine to play at Jacksonville on Sunday, especially after missing just one practice (Thursday) this week.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Doesn't practice Thursday

Godwin (knee) officially didn't practice Thursday. After opening Week 16 prep with a limited session Wednesday, Godwin's absence from the field one day later was forecast by the fact he wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of the practice, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Thus, Godwin's listing on Friday's injury report should be telling for his upcoming availability for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He was able to play through the knee issue Week 15 in Green Bay, where he turned 12 targets into 10 catches for 155 yards.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Missing from practice Thursday

Godwin (knee) wasn't spotted on the field Thursday and appears set to be listed as a non-participant for the Buccaneers' second Week 16 practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Godwin was listed as questionable heading into the Buccaneers' Week 15 game against the Packers with the same injury, but he proceeded to suit up for that contest and turned in his best performance of the season in Tampa Bay's 34-20 win, finishing with a 10-155-0 receiving line on 12 targets. The wideout opened Week 16 prep Wednesday as a limited practice participant, but it's unclear if his absence Thursday is maintenance-related or the result of a setback with the knee injury. More clarity on Godwin's status heading into Sunday's game against the Jaguars should come following the Buccaneers' final practice of the week Friday.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: WRs to Start

Godwin is getting hot at the right time with 23 targets in his past two games, and he has 15 catches for 208 yards over that span against the Falcons and Packers. I'll buy into that production carrying over to Week 16 since he has a tremendous matchup against the Jaguars, who are No. 10 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. Eight receivers have scored at least 14.5 PPR points against Jacksonville in the past seven games, and Godwin and Mike Evans should be able to take advantage of this secondary, especially while Baker Mayfield is playing at a high level. Evans has top-10 upside in all leagues, while Godwin is worth using as No. 2 Fantasy receiver.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Limited Wednesday

Godwin (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's injury report. Godwin also tended to a knee injury during Week 15 prep, which contained him to just one full practice last Friday. While he entered the weekend as questionable for this past Sunday's game at Green Bay, he didn't look worse for wear as he ran roughshod over the Packers defense for 10 catches (on 12 targets) for 155 yards, including four plays of 20-plus yards. With the aforementioned health concern following him into this week, Godwin's status will need to be watched to ensure he isn't in danger of missing Sunday's contest against the Jaguars.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Eclipses century mark in win

Godwin brought in 10 of 12 targets for 155 yards in the Buccaneers' 34-20 win over the Packers on Sunday. After a season full of mostly middling outputs, Godwin finally looked like the talented and versatile threat he's served as for most of his career. Godwin did have an 8-114 line against the Saints back in Week 4, but Sunday's reception and receiving yardage totals were both season highs, while his target tally tied his high-water mark on the campaign. Godwin now has 15 receptions for 208 yards over the last two games after a catchless outing in Week 13, and he'll therefore head into a Week 16 home matchup against the Jaguars on Christmas Eve with plenty of momentum.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Ready to go Sunday

Godwin (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers. Godwin took a questionable tag into the weekend after he was held out of the Buccaneers' first two Week 15 practices due to the knee issue before he returned to the field Friday as a full participant. The wideout's ability to close out the week by taking every rep in practice suggests he shouldn't face any major restrictions Sunday, despite the fact that he received the questionable tag heading into the contest. Godwin is coming off a Week 14 outing in which he saw his second-highest target count (11) of the season, though he finished with a modest 5-53-0 receiving line in the Buccaneers' 29-25 win over the Falcons.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Expected to play against Packers

Godwin (knee), who is officially listed as questionable, is expected to play Sunday against the Packers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Godwin practiced in full Friday, so his expected availability for Sunday's game isn't a major surprise. Nevertheless, fantasy managers will want to confirm that Godwin is in the clear once the Buccaneers release their inactive list approximately 90 minutes before the game's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
