Saints' Taysom Hill: Gets first-round tender

The New Orleans Saints have placed a first-round tender on Taysom Hill, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports. As expected, New Orleans made the move, which almost assuredly means Hill is in a Saints uniform in 2020. With Teddy Bridgewater expected to move on, Hill will move into the backup job to starting QB Drew Brees. Hill's gadget role in the offense shouldn't dry up, though, after he posted 119 passing yards, 590 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns over the past two campaigns.

Saints' Taysom Hill: In line for first-round tender

The New Orleans Saints are expected to place a first-round tender on Taysom Hill, who is a restricted free agent, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.Hill has been a gadget player in the Saints offense the past two seasons, racking up 119 yards on 13 passes, 64 carries for 352 yards, 22 catches for 238 yards and nine total touchdowns while playing all 32 regular-season contests. With Drew Brees committed to playing in 2020 and Teddy Bridgewater almost certainly moving on as an unrestricted free agent, Hill seems resigned to serve as the backup QB in the Big Easy. If New Orleans proceeds with the aforementioned tender, the organization will have the opportunity to match any offer Hill gets on the open market, or otherwise receive a first-round pick if it opts not to do so.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Wants to play QB eventually

Taysom Hill said he'll leave New Orleans if he doesn't eventually get a chance to start at quarterback, Rob Maaddi of The Associated Press reports.Hill presumably understands that he won't have a shot at the starting job until Drew Brees decides to retire, something that hasn't officially been determined but doesn't seem likely to happen this offseason. Hill may be hinting at a desire to replace Teddy Bridgewater -- an impending free agent -- as the No. 2 quarterback, though it would be tricky for the 29-year-old to take on that responsibility while also handling his accustomed roles as a gadget player on offense and a member of multiple special teams units. For what it's worth, former New Orleans Saints special teams coach Mike Westhoff told Zach Gelb of CBS Sports Radio that he expects Hill to be the eventual successor to Brees in New Orleans. Hill is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason, and the Saints presumably will use a first- or second-round tender to provide some protection from offer sheets.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Headed for bigger role in 2020?

Drew Brees said he'd be fine with Taysom Hill taking more snaps in 2020, Chris Simms of NBC Sports reports.Brees hasn't officially decided on playing another season but seems to be leaning in that direction. A few recent reports have suggested the New Orleans Saints view Hill as Brees' eventual replacement at quarterback, which hints at Teddy Bridgewater finding a new team when he becomes a free agent this offseason. An expanded role for Hill in 2020 could involve more snaps at quarterback, or it could just mean more playing time as a wide receiver, tight end or running back.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Blows up for 125 yards in OT loss

Taysom Hill completed his only pass attempt for 50 yards and caught both of his targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in the New Orleans Saints' 26-20 overtime wild-card loss to the Vikings on Sunday. He also rushed for 50 yards on just four carries. Hill did a bit of everything Sunday and looked to be the more explosive Saints' quarterback on the afternoon. The 50-yard completion was a career-long connection, the rushing yards led the team and the 125 scrimmage yards were a career high in Hill's final game of the 2019 season. The third-year BYU product ended his third season in New Orleans with a career-best 445 scrimmage yards and seven total touchdowns. He'll be a restricted free agent in 2020, and there should certainly be an interest in his multi-faceted services.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Gets involved all over the field

Taysom Hill completed one of two pass attempts for 20 yards, adding two carries for 11 yards and catching both of his targets for an additional 21 yards in the New Orleans Saints' 38-28 win over the Titans on Sunday.Hill mixed in all over the field Sunday, getting involved in the passing, rushing and receiving games. His production, however, remained minor, as Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas led the way in typical fashion. Hill is a fine player for the Saints' real-world operation, as he creates mismatches and provides dynamic athleticism at a number of different positions. He's not worth rostering outside of deep, two-quarterback leagues for fantasy purposes, though.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Catches touchdown in win

Taysom Hill corralled both of his targets for 42 yards and a touchdown, adding one yard on two carries in the New Orleans Saints' 34-7 win over the Colts on Monday.Hill caught Drew Brees' final touchdown of the evening, bringing in a 28-yard score at the end of the third quarter to put New Orleans up 34-0. The multi-faceted quarterback is always a threat to score when the Saints scheme the ball to him, but he can't be relied on for consistent fantasy production due to his low weekly volume.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Falls back to earth

Taysom Hill failed to complete his only pass attempt, adding five carries for 13 yards and a 12-yard reception in the New Orleans Saints' 48-46 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.Last week's two-touchdown Thanksgiving bonanza is in the distant rear view, as Hill fell back to earth for a typical stat line in Sunday's loss. The rushing attempts were a season-high, though game script -- influenced by a combined 94 points scored -- likely contributed to that bump in usage out of the backfield. Hill shouldn't be utilized outside of deep two-quarterback leagues, and his value is almost entirely touchdown-dependent.

Saints' Taysom Hill: Scores twice in career game

Taysom Hill rushed twice for 33 yards and a touchdown, adding two receptions for 12 yards and an additional touchdown in the New Orleans Saints' 26-18 win over the Falcons on Thursday.Hill had himself a day, producing the first multi-score effort of his career. He got things going early with a three-yard reception touchdown, before taking a direct snap and darting through the line for a 30-yard scamper just before halftime. The versatile quarterback has flashed his elite athleticism throughout his career, though he rarely logs more than a handful of touches per game, making this an outlier performance.
