Makar signed a six-year, $54 million contract extension with the Avalanche on Saturday, PuckPedia reports.

Makar is just 22 years old and has already established himself as one of the best defensemen in the league, having posted an eye-popping 20 goals, 94 points, 225 shots and a plus-29 rating while averaging 22:26 of ice time per contest in 101 appearances through his first two NHL seasons. The fourth overall pick from the 2017 Draft will continue to be a Norris Trophy candidate as well as a high-end fantasy asset for years to come.
