De Haan (shoulder) skated with a small group of fellow NHL players in Ottawa on Friday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

De Haan underwent what was believed to be season-ending shoulder surgery in late December, but the fact that the Blackhawks will be playing meaningful games in August has left the door open for a potential return this year, particularly since he's already skating. However, his availability for the playoffs likely won't be determined until Chicago begins its pre-postseason training camp in mid-July. De Haan was playing well in a top-four role for the Blackhawks prior to his surgery, notching six points while registering a plus-10 rating in 29 contests.
