Carlo was placed in the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Tuesday.
Carlo appeared to have found his offensive game of late with three points in his previous five outings but now could potentially be sidelined beyond the league's current shutdown through Dec. 27. If the 25-year-old blueliner does miss any time, the Bruins will need to call up a defenseman or two from the minors, especially after Jakub Zboril (knee) was shut down for the rest of the year.
