Montembeault replaced starter Cayden Primeau and stopped 11 of 12 shots in the third period of Thursday's 6-0 loss to Pittsburgh.
Montembeault was good in relief, allowing the one goal with 11 seconds left in the game. He's been at his best when coming in after a starter gets shelled or injured. When replacing a starter, Montembeault has stopped 43 of 47 shots (.914 save percentage). Thursday's effort raised his season save percentage to .892. The Canadiens will have to roll with him and Primeau for the time being, but Jake Allen (concussion) skated Thursday and could return in the coming days.
