Capitals' Evgeny Kuznetsov: Offered KHL deal

Kuznetsov has been offered $6 million annually from KHL SKA to return to his native Russia, JJ Regan of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.

While it seems unlikely Kuznetsov would leave the NHL, this offer will almost certainly play a role in his contract negotiations with the Capitals. The center, who was protected from the expansion draft, will be a restricted free agent on July 1 and it seems likely that he'll receive offers from multiple teams, if only to raise the price tag for Washington. The 25-year-old wasn't quite as productive this year as compared to last -- 59 points in 2016-17 -- but still figures to provide elite level fantasy production for the upcoming campaign.
