Shepard will patrol the home crease in Sunday's preseason matchup against Philadelphia, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Shepard had a 2-1-1 record with a 3.19 GAA and an .894 save percentage in four regular-season outings with Washington in 2023-24. He is expected to split Sunday's contest with Clay Stevenson. The 28-year-old Shepard will likely begin the 2024-25 campaign in the minors, but he must clear waivers to be sent down.
