Capitals' John Carlson: Ruled out Wednesday

Carlson (lower body) will not play in Wednesday's home game versus the Rangers, The Washington Post reports.

"It's nothing serious at all," Coach Barry Trotz said of the veteran defenseman's injury. "Where we are right now, we just felt, let's not put anything at risk and let everybody heal." We suppose this is the luxury of the Capitals being the odds-on favorites for the Presidents' Trophy, but holding out Carlson -- an established power-play quarterback -- for even one game is painful to fantasy owners who are depending on him in the season's waning days.
