Timmins, along with a 2022 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 third-round pick, was traded from the Avalanche to the Coyotes in exchange for Darcy Kuemper on Wednesday, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reports.

Timmins would have had a tough time earning playing time with the Avalanche in 2021-22, as Cale Makar, Samuel Girard and Bowen Byram were among the team's impressive blue line depth. Instead, the 22-year-old Timmins should take on a noticeable role with the Coyotes, and he could be a large part of their upcoming rebuild. The second-round pick from 2017 had seven assists in 31 appearances last season while mostly being limited to third-pairing usage.
