Harper was traded from the Panthers to the Devils on Wednesday in exchange for defenseman Reece Scarlett.
Harper drew into 14 NHL games at the beginning of the season while the Panthers were dealing with a multitude of injuries, but he wasn't recalled since then. He has 19 points in 39 games at the AHL level this season and is probably destined to remain in the minors, barring a lot of injuries in New Jersey.
