Carrick was assigned to AHL San Diego on Monday, TSN reports.
Carrick has mostly played in the minors over the past nine seasons. The 28-year-old has 34 NHL games under his belt, posting five points and 15 PIM in that stretch. However, he's expected to handle a veteran role in the AHL this year.
