Sandstrom was reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
Carter Hart is dealing with a significant lower-body injury, so Sandstrom will likely be back with the big club prior to Saturday's matchup with Buffalo. If Hart is unable to return this season, Sandstrom will probably split starts with Martin Jones down the stretch.
