The Hurricanes reassigned Lyon to AHL Chicago on Sunday.
The 28-year-old impressed in his first start of the season Saturday, stopping 27 of 29 shots and earning the win against St. Louis. Lyon loses his roster spot now that Antti Raanta (concussion) is apparently ready to play again.
