Miftakhov will start in Friday's road preseason game versus the Lightning, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Miftakhov struggled in his first preseason action, allowing three goals on seven shots. The 25-year-old netminder will likely begin the year with AHL Chicago unless Pyotr Kochetkov's (undisclosed) injury lingers into the regular season.
