Poirier (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup to face Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Poirier was almost certainly going to be heading back to QMJHL Baie-Comeau for the upcoming season, so his undisclosed injury should have little impact on his long-term development. Still, Tuesday's contest would have been a good opportunity for team brass to get an up-close look at the 2024 fifth-round pick. If he can't get into a preseason tilt, Poirier will likely start the year on season-opening injured reserve before being sent back to juniors once given the all-clear.
