Pelech may only have four assists in 22 games for the Islanders this season, but he also has a team-leading rating of plus-5.
Pelech is not on the team for his offense but rather for his play in the defensive zone. Pelech has only recorded more than 20 points in a season once (2018-19) in his career. However, his plus rating is impressive when you consider he is one of only two Islanders with such a rating, the other being Kieffer Bellows, who has only played 12 games. Pelech will next get a chance to get his first goal of the season when the NHL resumes (hopefully) its schedule after the Christmas break on Monday in Buffalo.
