Salo (COVID-19) is expected to be activated and play Wednesday versus the Red Wings, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Salo was placed in the protocol on Dec. 19 but only missed one game. Coach Barry Trotz stated Sunday that Salo is expected to be activated before the game Wednesday versus the Red Wings but didn't say if Salo would play. The Islanders placed four players in the COVID-19 protocol Sunday, but all four were offensive players. The defense outside of Ryan Pulock (lower body) is intact, which means that Trotz will likely have to decide between Salo and Sebastian Aho for the final spot on the third pair.
