Varlamov will get the starting nod for Thursday's home clash with the Sabres, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Varlamov will make his first appearance since stopping 40 of 41 shots in a Dec. 16 win over Boston. The 33-year-old netminder is 1-5-1 this season with a disappointing .900 save percentage and 2.99 GAA. He's sporting a slightly better save percentage (.904) in five home games.
