Varlamov is expected to start Thursday for the Islanders in their rematch versus the Blue Jackets, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Varlamov made 42 saves in the Islanders' 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday, and with Ilya Sorokin still dealing with an upper-body injury, Varlamov is expected to start Thursday. Even if Sorokin is deemed healthy, with the Islanders also playing Friday, it would seem prudent that they would still start Varlamov on Thursday, thus giving Sorokin an extra day's rest.
