Hamblin will be waived Friday for the purpose of reassignment to AHL Bakersfield.
The Oilers made a big round of cuts, mostly involving players on their AHL team's roster. Hamblin requires waivers, but assuming the 26-year-old isn't claimed by another club, he'll be sent down to the farm team, though he could be brought up again for future preseason games.
