Panthers' Jaromir Jagr: Could be headed to Vegas

The Panthers opted not to protect Jagr from selection in the Vegas expansion draft, Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel reports.

Although Jagr is still a solid contributor -- 16 goals and 30 helpers -- at 45 years of age, he is no longer an elite goal-scorer, so it should come as no surprise Florida chose not to protect him from being selected. The financial impact of signing a first-ballot Hall of Famer like Jagr shouldn't be overlooked as the Czech would no doubt drum up even more support for the expansion franchise. However, with younger talents like Jonathan Marchessault also available, GM George McPhee may pass on the ageless wonder.
