DeSmith allowed three goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Predators. Nashville's fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Mattias Ekholm beat DeSmith with just two seconds left in the first period. Jake Guentzel drew the Penguins level late in the second, but the Predators responded with two goals in the ensuing 3:03, and Pittsburgh didn't have an answer in the third. This was DeSmith's first regulation loss since Nov. 27, as the backup goalie has long since righted the ship after a shaky start to the season.
