Georgiev led the Rangers onto the ice and is expected to start Wednesday's road game versus the Capitals, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

The Rangers open the year with a back-to-back set, although it is a small surprise that Georgiev is getting the first start over Igor Shesterkin. In 19 games last season, Georgiev went 8-7-2 with a 2.71 GAA and a .905 save percentage. He should settle into a backup role as the season progresses.
