Rooney scored two goals on three shots in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Islanders.
Rooney's first career two-goal game helped the Rangers win in their first trip to UBS Arena. He doubled the visitors' lead in the second period and quieted the crowd at the 4:12 mark of the third, just 20 seconds after the Islanders had finally given them something to cheer about by cutting the Rangers' lead in half. Rooney also made his customary contributions on the penalty kill, soaking up more than five minutes of shorthanded ice time in a physical game that featured plenty of penalties.
