Lindberg was left unprotected by the Rangers with the expansion draft looming, theScore reports.

Since Lindberg, a pending restricted free agent, was left off the Rangers' protected list, his camp has the option of negotiating a contract with the Golden Knights (and only them) under a 72-hour window. The Rangers had him under a standard two-year contract valued at $1.3 million, which proved to be a bargain since he managed 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists), despite averaging only 10:50 of ice time over 65 games.
